Use of OR video for managing workflow
A paper reporting the experience of using distributed OR video was accepted in Anesthesia and Analgesia. Two video systems (VideoBoard) have been in operational use for the past 4 years, alongside with automatically detected patient in and out events. Detailed usage patterns support the incremental value of video beyond discrete OR events (e.g., patient in) in managing OR workflow.

AMIA conference paper accepted on ICU communication
Danny was the lead author of a paper reporting our observation communications during rounds results carried out in a pediatric ICU. Implications for design of computerized system are described to enhance communications during rounds. The 5-page paper will be presented in American Medical Informatics Association conference this fall (and will be published in full-text on PubMed).

Video-based training tool is being propogated by AHRQ
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is providing funding for organizations who want to use the central line
web training tools for reducing hospital associated infections. The web training tool was published in a May Critical Care Medicine article.

American Telemedicine Association
Danny Ho and Steve Seebode will be presenting a poster on video review techniques to support situational awarenses during mass casualty triage at ATA 2007 in Nashville, Tennessee. The work extends from the AAIMS 2006 exercises conducted at BWI Airport. Danny will also be presenting at the conference on Telecommunications for Mobile and Disaster Management.

Emergent CSCW systems
A paper presented in 2004 was recently published in
International Journal of Medical Informatics on how workplaces are tailored to support work coordination. The paper was based on observation of how operating rooms are coordinated though the use of seemingly mundane objects (e.g. computer printouts).
